Best Day to List Your Home for Sale...FRIDAY!

According to the Seattle-based brokerage Redfin, home sellers would have the best chance of selling their home if they listed is on a Friday.

The brokerage analyzed 1.2 million listings across 16 markets over nearly the past two years and found that those listed on Friday were 12% more likely to sell within 90 days.

Another finding worth noting is that home for sale listed on Thursday or Friday sold, on average, closer to list price: 94.4% compared to 93.9% for homes listed on Sunday or Monday. On a $200,000, that’s $1,000. Perhaps this wouldn’t make a major difference for a real estate agent who pockets 5% of $1,000, or $50, but I’m sure it makes a major difference to the home seller.

The theory behind it all is that, because homebuyers usually attend open houses on Sundays, they tend to search through the homes they like on Fridays in preparation for the weekend.

However, in another respect, homes that were listed on Sundays attracted slightly more online page views than the average.
